LocalWhisper Terms and Refund Policy

These terms cover the LocalWhisper app for macOS and supplement the general SideQuest Terms. If the two conflict for LocalWhisper, these product terms control.

LocalWhisper is licensed, not sold. A completed purchase grants one person a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use covered LocalWhisper versions on Macs they personally use. The license does not permit sharing a key, reselling access, or distributing copies to other people or organizations.

You may not reverse engineer, bypass, or interfere with licensing controls except to the extent applicable law expressly allows.

A new installation includes a 14-day trial without a payment card. During the trial, the app's transcription, dictation, and meeting-capture workflows are available subject to required permissions, models, and configured providers.

When the trial ends, you can no longer start a new transcription, dictation, or meeting-capture workflow; existing transcripts remain available to view, edit, search, and export.

LocalWhisper is a one-time $9 purchase in US dollars, not a subscription. Stripe hosts checkout and processes payment information under its own terms and privacy policy.

A purchase is complete only after the payment provider confirms it. A return to a thank-you page alone is not proof of payment, license delivery, or entitlement.

You may request a refund within 14 calendar days after purchase through the SideQuest support page. An approved refund returns the LocalWhisper purchase price through the original payment method and ends the license grant and SideQuest support or recovery under these terms.

An LW1 key is verified locally. A refund record cannot remotely disable a key that has already been delivered. After a full refund, you must stop using LocalWhisper and delete your copies. SideQuest may refuse later support or recovery for the refunded purchase.

This voluntary policy does not limit refund, cancellation, warranty, or other rights that applicable consumer law provides. Where the law requires a different or longer remedy, that legal right controls.

A paid license includes generally released LocalWhisper versions published during the first 12 months after purchase. A version published later may require a new purchase or separate entitlement.

This policy describes purchase eligibility only. The current license-key format does not store an included-update date, and the app does not use the key alone to prove eligibility for a later version. SideQuest does not promise a release schedule or frequency.

You keep ownership of the recordings, transcripts, edits, prompts, and exports you use with LocalWhisper. You are responsible for having the right to record, transcribe, transform, and share that material, including obtaining consent where the law requires it.

Keep backups of important work. SideQuest does not host a recoverable copy of the LocalWhisper library. The LocalWhisper Privacy Notice explains local storage and provider boundaries.

You choose the speech and text engines used by LocalWhisper. Optional user-configured services are subject to their own availability, access, cost, privacy, and terms. SideQuest does not control those services.

Machine transcription and generated text can contain errors. Review important output before relying on it, publishing it, or using it for legal, medical, financial, employment, or other consequential work.

LocalWhisper is an independent software project. Support, maintenance, fixes, downloads, and future development are provided on a best-effort basis. SideQuest does not promise a response time, service level, release frequency, or compatibility with every app, provider, Mac, or future macOS version.

Do not use LocalWhisper to violate applicable law or another person's rights. Do not disrupt or misuse the product page, checkout, fulfillment, download, licensing, or support systems, and do not attempt to gain unauthorized access to them.

Except for warranties or guarantees required by law, LocalWhisper is provided "as is" and "as available." SideQuest does not promise uninterrupted operation, error-free transcripts or generated text, successful processing by every provider, or freedom from data loss.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SideQuest is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, revenue, business, or opportunities arising from LocalWhisper. Nothing here excludes liability or consumer rights that applicable law does not allow SideQuest to exclude.

The terms in effect when a purchase occurs govern that completed purchase. SideQuest may revise terms for future purchases without retroactively reducing rights already granted.
